For:
Violence: Gretel is a fairly confrontational character, and she often rubs people the wrong way. A character wants to take a swing at her? That's fine. She has good reflexes, but they're not perfect. She will retaliate, though.
Language: Any sort of strong language is fine around Gretel. She swears in her canon, both mild and strong, and neither she nor I will mind characters who swear.
Fourth-wall: Knowledge of the Grimms' "Hansel and Gretel" is totally allowed, so is any knowledge of other adaptations of the story. It's canon that Hansel and Gretel's childhood experiences are known (even if the story isn't exactly right). I would prefer she not be fourth-walled about the movie, however.

Against:
Violence: Let me know the level of violence you're comfortable with. If she really wants to be, Gretel can be downright sadistic, especially with witches, and I don't want to cross any lines ooc-ly. If it gets to a point where the characters just shouldn't interact or else those lines will be crossed, just tell me.
Language: Like I said above, Gretel swears. It isn't constant, but it happens. If you'd prefer her language be toned down for our threads, make a note of it, and I will keep it clean.
Spoilers: I definitely don't want to spoil anyone who isn't looking to be spoiled. Just leave a note on this if you haven't seen the movie and intend to, etc., and I'll be very, very careful about spoilers!

Please comment here with questions, comments, and concerns regarding the way I portray Gretel.

Critique is more than welcome, but it is best if offered with examples of what I'm doing wrong and suggestions on how to improve. I may not always agree and/or take the advice, but it will all be noted.

[Gretel's been off her feet for three days. Between the exhaustion of looking for her brother on her arrival, the chill in the air, and the (self-inflicted) wound to her wing... it took a little while for Gretel to roll herself out of the bed she'd found. But once she's up? It's time to get things done.

Her first stop is the clothing store. She's wearing ill-fitting clothes when she goes in, just what someone was able to grab for her. By the time she's done (having changed in one of the stalls), though, she has on leather. A lot of leather. Boots, pants, jacket, and bracers are all leather. Under the jacket, a linen shirt and muslin vest can be seen, but only just. She's not happy that the shirt and vest have holes cut in them for her wings, but at least the leather hasn't been touched. Its weight against the weird feathers? Is somewhat reassuring.

Next up is the item store. She browses the shelves, looking for anything she can be sure belongs to her. Nothing else. She is not going to owe these people anything. All she's going to take is what she already owns. They can't expect her to pay for that. She ends up leaving with nothing.

Gretel's last visit is to the smithy. There, she takes her time. She admires each and every weapon. None of them are hers, but she needs to arm herself.]

(Feel free to run into Gretel at any of her stops or between them! Obvious magic users and non-humans might want to catch her before she gets weapons. She won't be friendly, but she'll be less dangerous. I'll be sure to PM before anything happens, but if she feels threatened, she will throw a punch.)

[Another New Feather season, another flood of confused new residents. Unfortunately, Gretel has no idea how routine this is for the village. She, actually, knows very little of anything at present. She only knows not to stop moving, to keep going. If she stops to rest now, she won't get up, and it's cold enough that she knows to fear exposure. She hasn't lived this long just to be killed by the cold.

Her body shows signs of the ordeal she's obviously been put through since her arrival. Dressed in only the New Feather gown, there is no hiding the abuse of the elements. Her skin is red from the chill she's fighting, and there are scratches on her legs and hands as well as blood on her bare feet, fresh against the well-worn scars on her body. She's walked all day, crossed the field after waking alone and barely dressed and fought her way through the branches of the forest, guided by a few tall buildings that served as the promise of civilization. Faint traces of vomit cling to her lips and the back of her hand despite an earlier attempt to clean it off. The cause is likely the patch of feathers missing from her left wing.

The fountain glitters in the light of the moon, and Gretel uses it as a focus. Walking all day is nothing new, but she's barely dressed -- especially for this weather -- and has an untreated wound. Or, at least, that's what the damage to the unwanted growth on her back feels like. She has resisted the allure of every source of water, too worried she might slump over and never be found. But the buildings all around her, even dark as they might be right now, promise traffic come morning.

Gretel's throat burns as she drops to her knees and cups her hands to bring water to her mouth. She's shouted herself hoarse as she's walked all day, and now the fatigue is setting in. She's not sure she can even get up any time soon without some help.]

(Two requests for Gretel's first Luceti encounter: please no magic users or non-humans. Either would provoke a very violent reaction, and I'd prefer to avoid that for this thread. Thanks.)
